Prairie Madness was a term used when the first white settlers came to this land. The quiet but ever present wind was said to drive folks mad. You had no boundaries such as tall buildings, roads or other elements that are part of the urban scene. The sky was all around.
For the last several years I’ve worked on putting together a portfolio of Prairie images into a self published book call just Prairie Madness. As many photographers on Substack will attest it is very hard to make money with photography - not impossible but just hard. So I decided that my goal wasn’t to ‘get rich’ with this project but rather to give proceeds to prairie preservation organizations.
Southern Plans Land Trust and American Prairie are the two groups that I contribute to. For those interested in my book please head over to my web page
